Next Steps

PAWISCA was launched in Katowice, Poland in December during the climate change conference COP 24. The side event brought together the ministers and representatives from different African countries, women farmers members of Pawisca, partners, and the private sector.

Additionally, a side-event was held in Madrid, Spain during the COP 25. PAWISCA was to hold a side event sharing the experience of the African women farmers during the COP 26 that was scheduled for Glasgow, Scotland which has been postponed due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The proposal is to have PAWISCA incubated within the African Union Commission, in the Department of Strategic Planning and the Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture, for the attainment of Agenda 2063 goals. This Platform will fall under the CAADP Program and will liaise closely with NEPAD- AUDA (New Partnership for Africa’s Development- African Union Development Agency) .

Once the partnerships and linkages would have been established, then a fund could be set up in the United States to support the funding of these projects and others that will be proposed from other member states. The coordination of PAWISCA including the support to the projects will be carried at the country level in conjunction with the AUC.
